more about my ulpan
At my ulpan, I have about 3 or 4 friends. one is a girl from Seattle, two others are boys from Russia. One boy from russia asked me what sports I play. he said: " you play hoockey? basketball? futbol? basebol?
I spelled them differently due to the fact that he has an accent when he speaks in the very little english that he knows.

Various food places in Israel.
we went to lots of resturaunts and food shops so here are pictures of some of the places we went:
The Bible Lands Museum
One of the museums we went to was about the countries that are in the Bible which was called the Bible Lands Museum. At the museum there was a character that Jonah got his picture taken with and we also took some other pictures so here are some pictures:
Tower of David Museum and Sound & Light Show
One of the museums we went to was the Tower of David Museum which is a museum about this tower that the museum takes place in. The Tower was actually built by King Herod but King David gets the credit for it, cool! One week later we saw a sound and light show that they projected onto the tower but unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures so we don't have any pictures of it. We don't have very many pictures but here are a few.
Israel Museum
Another museum that we went to was the Israel Museum. There were many interesting things to look at but my personal favorite was the four synagogues from four different countries around the world.
so here are the pictures of the four synagogues:
Byzantine Synagogue
Indian Synagogue
Italian Synagogue
Suriname Synagogue
Underground Museum
Another museum we went to is the Underground Museum which is a place that used to be a jail when the British owned Israel.
People we've seen while we've been here
We've seen a lot of people we know and i could list them all but it would be easier for me to just label the pictures:
Becca (left) and Emily (right)
Jonah and I with Benjamin (left) and Alon (center left) |
My dad with his friend Brenda
My parents with Rachel
Us with the Rosenthal family
My dad and his friend Yekiel
Us with the Lipschitz's The Dead Headless Bird
One day while we were walking to school we walked past a dead, headless bird. I felt like taking a picture of it so I did and here's the picture:
Israeli Independence Day
On Israeli Independence Day, which is today, we had the day off from school. But, on Israeli Independence Day eve, which was last night, we saw lots of inflatable hammers, shaving cream, and silly string. All part of the holiday festivities! Then we saw fireworks which were great. And here are the pictures of the fireworks and many inflatable hammers:
Yom HaZikaron
Yom HaZikaron is a time that remembers all the Israeli soldiers who died in wars. At my school we had a ceremony where there was singing and we lit a candle to remember the soldiers. So here is a picture of the singers:
Singers at the ceremony Ok, after all that here is the song
The song is to the tune of L'dor V'dor which is a hebrew song:

Dear Micah,
ReplyDeleteI like your very comprehensive report.
I would like to know more about the different synagogues you saw in the museum and about the food.
